FOXO4-DRI
FOXO4-DRI (Senolytic Peptide)
Senolytic peptide designed to clear aged "zombie" cells
How it works
FOXO4-DRI is a stabilized (D-retro-inverso) peptide that blocks the FOXO4-p53 interaction inside senescent cells. Releasing p53 from sequestration is studied to selectively push these aged "zombie" cells into apoptosis while sparing healthy cells.
What the research explores
In published research, FOXO4-DRI has been studied in connection with the following. These describe findings reported in the literature — not approved uses, claims, or outcomes to expect.
- Targets senescent ("zombie") cells specifically
- Studied for clearing accumulated aged cells
- Investigated for tissue and fitness restoration in models
- Protease-resistant D-retro-inverso design
- Prominent senolytic research candidate
A landmark 2017 study (de Keizer lab, Cell) reported that FOXO4-DRI cleared senescent cells in aged mice, restoring fur density, fitness, and kidney function - a milestone for the senolytics field.
Adverse events & gaps
Preclinical - human safety not established. For research use only.
